Thread: Help Me Please!!!

For all my fishing ( crappie, bass and trout) I have been useing "Power Pro".
It is made from Spectra fiber. 10# test has the diameter of 2# test. It will last me 6 to 9 month under heavy use. I will remove 5 to 6 ft. after each fishing trip in case it is week from rubing logs and rock. It's a little pricey but it is worth it as it will last all season. IT WILL NOT LINE TWIST.

I only have that problem in the cooler months. I try and outfit my reels with 4/15 lb spider wire and that eliminates any curl. Much easier to cast in the Winter!

if you are talking about spinning reels, the key to avoiding those birdnests is to put your line on opposite of how it comes off the spool when you cast it. As it comes off my spinning rod (counter clockwise). So when I change the spool of line, I have it come off of the spool on to the reel clockwise. That should fix the problem. The other thing you must do is make sure that when you cast, you close the bail manually with your hand, because loops get on the spool, and that will lead to line twists. Hope that helps.

Don't want to get too basic . . . but it could be the bait you are casting and can also come from continuing to reel in line if your drag is "whining" (spelling). I have put on a brand new spool of line and cast a spinning type jig without a swivel, within a few casts, my line was curling so bad I wanted to throw the reel away. Easy fix in you are in a boat . . with the boat in gear and at idle, let all of your line out behind you (do not put anything on the end of your line), let it drag behind the boat for a few seconds and then reel it back in giving the line resistance with your fingers, no more curls (until you do again whatever it is that made the curls happen in the first place).

Hey Minnowman, we need a little more info. Are you talking about memory in the line or line twist? If it's memory, there's not much you can do about that except storing your rods in such a manner that you have some of the line that has taken on a "straight" memory. If it's line twist, it could be a number of things like the way you loaded the spool to the type of bait you're using.
