Thread: Newbie here!

One of my New Year’s resolutions was to learn to fish. That is what brought me here. Look forward to learning about crappie fishing. Have a duck boat that I am going to modify for crappie fishing. Will put a pic up soon and let you all make suggestion on what I should do to it. If anybody in central Ark is looking for someone to fish with, I have very flexible work schedule and would like to learn! If you need a partner for a day Pm me. I have already gathered more info from this site than I thought possible.

FRIST QUESTION FOR ALL MEMBERS HERE: What type of tackle should I buy? I need it all pole reels etc. Then I need to fill a tackle box. What would you buy first?

Welcome , like CEB said there are many methods dicussed here. Each type of water may require a different one or it may come down to personal preference. I used to spider rig minnows and gave it up for vertical jigging. Here we fish brushpiles most of the year. We use a Garmin Etrex GPS and a Cuda depth finder with transducer mounted on the trolling motor to locate our brushpiles. You may want to get someone to mentor you to speed things up. At times in some lakes without cover your time is well spent building your own cover.:D If you fish open water brushpiles a couple of cheap bouy markers are a big help. The wind can push you off your spot while unhooking a fish. Good luck and keep posting.:D

Welcome to the board. Like the others have said there are many ways to catch crappie. If your just getting started I would strongly suggest you come to crappie camp if you can. There you will find more boats set up more ways than you could ever imagine. Not to mention folks willing to take you out and share there tips and tactics with you. I assure you if you do make it down. when you go home there will be no doubt how your going to set up that boat
