What would be a good limit per person in order to be able to share fishing information with today's technology to insure the fish population in a lake stayed healthy? I think a limit of 10 or less per person would benefit the spread of the sport more. After all who on here wants to prevent a youngster from learning how rewarding a good fishing trip can be. The spread of information would put more people on fish but also may grow the sport! At what point does the benefits outweigh the downsides?

In my opinion, anyone keeping more than 10 nice crappie is either greedy, or too fat from eating too much fried food, or maybe both . Catch all you want, but keep no more than 10 per day.

So your saying it's better for someone to fish seven days a week and keep 10 fish a day and let the working class that works 5-6 days a week and only gets to fish one day a week and keep 30?

Not really. I believe game and fish should set limits based on knowledge and research. Just figured my response would get a good debate going

We are more then halfway in the the spawn on Lay Lake Alabama i had yet to catch 10 Crappie in a outing this year... Talking to the Lake regulars the past few days they are in the same boat... Not sure if the weather very warm winter cold snaps this spring has messed up the spawn... or if Lake has been depleted of good size spawning Crappie... I wouldn't mind if limits where cut from 30 to 15...

Shouldn't limits be proportional to the population in each respective body of water? if you fail to keep enough from one body of water, I would think that would have just as much effect as keeping too many. Logical stewardship to me....

Spot on to me. I fish some places that have slow fish growth and have poor spawns. Then I fish some places that do not get enough pressure and have excellent spawns. Where I fish determines what I keep. I take what I will use and toss the rest. Now....I use alot. Got a big family and we are all close and live close. Aint nothing for me to drum up a fish fry for 15 people in just one afternoons notice. So just know, if you see me with a tailgate full of fish.... they most likely get eaten within the week and never hit the freezer.

As for passing on the tradition and helping other fishermen do so......Purely my opinion we all have the obligation to do just that. Its dwindling everyday and if we want to preserve tradition....we had all better pass it on.

Sounds like a Bernie scheme to me... I enjoy crappie fishing bc u have to really work to be good at it...If I wanted something given to me I'd go get on food stamps. Just my thought.

I'm fat. Always been fat ! Probably always be fat. and since I'm now a crappie addict for about last 3 years I hadn't gained or lost much weight but i have ate a lot of southern fried crappies/Gills and such .i do catch and release a lot more than I keep .but some days I keep a limit maybe two if a fishing partner wants too .or if my family wants some for a fish fry. oh and I love fried food always have and always will . So as long as you don't break the law or waist em I don't see any harm .fish only live so long.
