Default Fish or junk in the water?

I have a Garmin also, I'm no expert but usually when I see what you're seeing in pics 2,3, and 4 I put my baits at that depth or slightly above and start catchin fish. As far as the vertical lines it could be your sonar picking up air bubbles coming off the bottom, If you change your chart speed and the line becomes more vertical at slower speeds and more horizontal at higher chart speeds then that's more than likely what you're seeing.

Awesome. Thanks! Do you ever see defined arches? I read one forum where a guy said that there are never any defined arches on the mid-grade garmin fish finders?

Pics 2,3,4 appear to be balls of bait fish

My guess is bait fish and maybe a few fish mixed in . One clue to tell whether it is Crappie or not is how tightly fish show bunched . Shad will show bunched tight and some lakes have Gizzard Shad up to 2 lbs . Some folks try lowering sensitivity as it could show better without as much clutter . I use Huminbirds but the first could be like RK1 said , I see lots of spots here where lake bottom is emittiong gases from decaying matter . But you will see the bubbles on the water surface around you if that's it. During high water on some flood control lakes I have seen trash show up .

I'm not convinced there's anything in Herb Parsons but a couple small catfish. It's deeper and has more structure than some of the lakes I've fished, so I was excited about finding at least a school of yellow bass. Just couldn't figure where they were and what they wanted!
