Do y'all usually experience your best fishing of the year during the spawn and post-spawn? I remember last spring and early summer, y'all were on the hogs.
Prespawn should start soon as water temps get 50 +and be good most of the time through post spawn. June, when it gets hot they slow down. What hurts us is cold fronts as it's a shallow lake. Also quick rises being a flood control lake and then the dropping water after the floods. My favorite time is post spawn as the weather is more stable and fishing is more perdictable. Most here target the spawn ,but weather and lake levels are so unperdictable on this lake. Last year March 17 my son and I had a 52 lb string as males were on the bank. The next day the lake started rising and major cold front hit and killed the fishing. Here the spawn fishing can be feast or famine as fish move in or out. Then when it's good the crowds get terribble in the best coves.
