Whichever has more storage/floor space or a better area to fish off of. On the other hand you never know when Greers is gonna blow up and I've had it happen more than once. If it were me I would keep the WE.

Since I am moving my base of operation to Greers Ferry, I have got to reduce my inventory of boats / family heirlooms. I had grand plans of buying a new bass tracker but those plans will have to be put on hold for now. Here's what I am left with at 1542 War Eagle with a tiller steer 25 hp and 1648 Alumcraft aluminum bass boat with steering wheel and a 30 hp Gotta sell one and keep the other to fish Greers Ferry. Both are older boats and motors that are reliable. The War Eagle slices thru waves like a yacht and 1648 is true flatbottom that will beat you to death. Which would boat would you keep?? P.S. I am smart enough to stay off the lake when the wind is up or to take shelter when the wind comes up and I don't plan any cross country trips on the lake. I just plan on fishing reasonable close to wherever I launch.

Wareagle, neighbor has one just like it. Been on Sardis in some pretty rough water and never worried.

Looks like stick steer might not ride well if you get caught in much wind .![]()

I've fished Greers pretty much all my life. A flat bottom will get you beat up but without much wind if you have to cross some of the big open areas. I everything else is equal I'd pick the War Eagle.
You will get caught by the wind sooner or later, it's just the way it is there. Which ever one you feel safest in when that happens is the one I'd want. I've fished it all my life and have gotten caught by the wind numerous times in anything from flat bottoms to glass bass boats and it will still be nerve racking.
Greers is not made for flatbottom boat. I have been caught up in too many channel's thinking everything is ok and come out to open water to see wind and whitecapping.
Keep the 15 footer. You are not required to carry a throwable flotation device, horn, nav lights, and fire extinguisher on the boat in a vessel 15foot or less. If you have a 16 footer with all that in there u got less room than a 15 footer. And since the 15 footer rides better....that would be my choice. Now....having all the items mentioned above onboard is ALWAYS a good idea. They just are not required.
