I have no explanation for it but I found it interesting to say the least. I also found it interesting that when I first walked onto the pier I was talking to two guys that claimed they had been there since 3:00. (I got there about 4:30). I was only there to look at the lake level and water clarity, I wasn't there to fish. The two guys that I was talking to said they hadn't seen a crappie caught while they were there, and I believed their story as their buckets were dry and empty. But, all at once, without justifiable cause the fish turned on for this one particular guy. He hadn't changed anything... They just all of a sudden "came alive" for him ! It was strange and interesting to witness.

Crappie have been known to turn on and off suddenly . He may have found where they stacked up , fish could have moved in , possiably just turned on and become active . Some folks fish same spot the same way everytime. They might fish a few minutes and leave blaming the fish , weather , or something else. When most days it is the fishermen not putting in the effort to find em and present bait they way the fish will respond to . Sometimes fish even go nocturnal it seems just like Deer do .

The next day, it could be the other way around. I am a jig fisherman, but sometimes minnows will work. I use Crappie nibbles for my minnows, they work great.
