Slick if your comming that far to fish with us I would leave the condos at home. You wont get to fish them much down here and they would be better served up on some of your waters. When we get a date firmed up just come on down and join us.

I am not planning on doing the condo sinking untill a later date after folks have had a chance to go and find them a spot they like. Its just something CEB and I kicked arround that might help us that live close by catch a few more fish, or at least fish with more confidence in an area thats as easy as driving thru McDonalds to get to.

    Gooch,

I'm gonna be making condos this weekend. I got a question for you or Jerry or other condo pro's. Does it matter very much if the cane is green or not?... Or if there aren't very many leaves on it? Here is some that I cut today, along with some buckets that I have.

It's sort of dry. I would also like to know if you need more than 60 lbs of concrete to sink them. As you can see, I'm ready, I just want to make sure I've got the right kind of stuff. I have a little bit of pvc also, but the cane probably will work better. opinion up!

Randy I think they would be better green than dead and dry as they are just further into the decompisition process dry. I know Jerry Blakes article on the subject says they are best green. I dont know if that's due to them lasting longer or just that he dont let much grass grow under his feet and just cuts sets and sinks em to get the job done quick. I do know they work eithe way and even if they do rot quicker that way you still have a stump to fish.

I have access to a couple of patches of boo in Bryant if you have a trailer and are willing to come out this way. I hooked Slipcork up with a mess not long ago and would be more than happy to do the same for you. It would tickle the mess out of me to hook you up with some and have you go post some pics of some big ole slabs you caught off em.

Let me know if I can help and I would be glad to.

Hey guys I'm in. Gooch you know we can use my yard to make condos if we need to. There is a lot of boo at I-430 and R.Parkham get on on the west side. Also across from the Electric Cowboy on I-30. On a emtty lot that is for sale. Found some more at a storge unit out here in Bryant on Hwy 5. And other places on the service road between co. line and Bryant.

Also if any of yall want to meet before or any time we can meet at my store here in Bryant. I'm about to send Russ a check and get all 4 season of Mid West Crappie and we can watch it on the 110" TV.

I'm ready. Have to end duck season this weekend and out on Feb 10th.

    Hey Randy:

I've not tried to use bamboo that has dried out much but I have a feeling that the greener it is the longer it will last underwater. The cane you have looks like river cane or switch cane, which will probably work ok but if you can get Giant Bamboo that has the limbs on it I think it will hold more fish.

If you do use switch cane I would put as much in the buckets as you can so you have some dense cover. You'll still have plenty of open areas for the crappie to get into. Sixty pounds of Quickcrete should be plenty unless you use really long, large diameter bamboo.

Here's what we like them to look like:

It's not as dense as it looks and there are alot of openings for crappie to move in and through but there are also dense areas for baitfish to hide and baby crappie to grow up in and around.

Thanks gooch & Jerry. I'll try to pm you gooch when I get back in town. (going to vegas for a medical conference) I may try to get back in touch with you in a couple of weeks. I got some 5 gallon buckets from a friend that's painting a new house, so I've got about 5 of those. I may go ahead & build 1 or 2 with this switch cane, but I'll hook up w/ gooch for the other green stuff w/ limbs. Thanks for the input.
