Not sure! but you know how those articles are! Usually one person's opinion and biased! I don't understand the top 50 ranking. Not to offend anyone but Nimrod is ranked high. Lots of fish just not much quality. I would have thought that some other lakes in AR would be higher than Nimrod. I'm probably not one to judge I have only fished there a couple of times. I guess they are ranking on numbers and not quality. We caught lots of fish but had to cull hard to keep the fish that we put in the cooler tried to stay above 10 to 11" fish. Maybe we were fishing in the wrong areas for quality fish. Some nice pictures have been posted on the board from there. I guess we should have kept our limits after reading some of the other threads. I have never fished Dardanelle but have friends that have caught some really nice fish there.

I can be on several of the MS lakes in just over an hour and on Grenada in just about 2 hours. Central AR lakes are 2.5 to 3.5 hours away for me so I don't have any experience with those lakes. I have done my part to support Grenada's economy this summer and will be contributing again tomorrow. Haha! Would have today but supposed to be really windy.

We used to have some really good fishing in Eastern AR oxbow lakes but not anymore! I guess it is the Asian carp that have ruined it. I use to fish White River, Arkansas River and Mississippi River oxbow lakes but have pretty much stopped now if they flood or if they are still connected to the river. It is really sad I'm 53 years old and have great memories fishing on those lakes over the years but some have became the Dead Sea for crappie over the past few years. I hope that some how we figure out how to turn this around I would love to be able share that experience with my new grandson some day like my dad did with me.

Sorry I didn't intend to hijack your thread!!!

No biggie. There doesn't seem to be much interest anyway.

Josh Gowan is one of my favorite outdoor writers, and he puts together some pretty informative fishing videos, but as you say, he is biased. I don't think he has fished any of these Arkansas lakes. If he had, the list would be different.

There are at least four Arkansas lakes that I would put up against any lake in the country, as it relates to big fish, with the exception of Mississippi's Big Four, and several more when it comes to numbers. But then again, I guess I'm a little biased too!

I don't have the experience with central AR lakes that is certain, but I will say that fishing one of the MS COE is a definite for the anyone's bucket list! Grenada seems to be hot this year sometimes it is Enid, Sardis or Arkabutla. Some of the biggest and healthiest fish I have ever caught. I'm addicted to fishing there that is for sure, it has caused me to get a bigger boat and spend money on gas! Haha!
