Ashamed to admit it, I too got a #8 bream hook in my hand Friday. Lucky that I had a pair of needle nosed pliers in the boat . Pushed the point thru, cut the eye side and pulled it out. Found a paper towel to put on it and wrapped it with electrical tape and back to fishing! Be careful !!
Them thangs should be outlawed , to dangerous to fish with !!!!! Lol !!!!!!
Bill dance has a good story about a loudmouth that would let everyone know he had a striper on saying at high volumes things like "There he is" or There's another one " when he hooked up. One day he saw him set the hook and miss the strike. The zara spook came back and caught him in the side of his mouth with one set of hooks which caused him to jerk his head to the side where the other set got caught in the back of his shoulder. He was screwed up for sure. BD said the guy just started his outboard and left never saying anything to anyone.
This is true: my brother hooked himself in the lip trout fishing at Mountain Home....drove himself to the ER. Dr. says "I can either deaden it, which will hurt like hell, cut off the barb, then dig it out...or jerk it out with string". Brother's eyes almost fell out of their sockets, but the Dr. swore jerking would be faster & hurt less. He let him do the jerk method, was out in 5 minutes & back to fishing. Side note: Dr. asked him if he could have the lure, then took him back to his office. There he showed him his big cork board full of lures he's taken out of fishermen--they went from dry flies to 8" striper lures! My brother's is the small Rapla on the lower left;).
Would it have been rude? To ask him for a few post operation pictures... of proper (on The water) both hands hooked together hook removal, to show us...to better help us understand what a fellow might look like... in that condition? Before you operated on him? Just Wondering
try sinking one thru your thumb and a fish on the other treble flopping around!!!! good thing i had my wire cutters handy. still ended up having to go to the doctor and get it out, but at least the fish wasn't flopping!!!
