figured I would share my strategies today. We finally got our lake up about a foot from a couple of weeks ago. I was wondering if it would ever come up. For those who don't know, our lake almost dried up this year. We had a relift pump on it for 2+months, and it only kept up with evaporation. I used some feather jigs; never used them before, but a buddy spanked my tail a couple of weeks ago. I usually use those little swim baits or the standard roadrunner/black/chartreuse tube. I fished on the north bank of our lake in about 3 feet of real stained water, on the outside of buck-brush that surrounds our lake. I caught the majority of these little shorties on the thinner stickups of buck brush with a tight-lined feather jig. Here is the colors I used today.

I used the white/black in the morning, and switched to the green/chartreuse in the afternoon.
I only had about 18" of line out on the end of my 9' fly rod. I used clear 10 lb. test line also. All of my fish came on the north side of this oxbow lake. No fish came off any cypress trees. They were looking for the sun next to this sparse cover. Water temp was around 48 degrees. I am real excited about our lake filling back up. We went for an entire year with me barely being able to use my good crappie rig. I can finally get up to the brush without stirring up mud & spooking any chance of catching fish. I don't know what the rain will do to these fish tonite if we get a lot. If we do, I'll just thank god that the lake is still coming up.
