Make sure you don't have the inlet and outlet mixed up, turned around backwards if you Will.....maybe pos. And negative backwards. Simple mistakes first. Then return line at academy

I installed a live well pump on the back of my Pondtoon to fill my ice chest aka live well. The motor runs but will not pump water. I tried priming it but still wouldn't work. Any idea why it doesn't work? Thanks for ideas.

I had one that I got it hooked up backwards(positive on negative terminal) and was using it to pump out a pit. I was ready to throw it away until I reversed the connection. Might check it
If everything is hooked correctly and it won't pump, it could be that the livewell pump does not have the lift capacity to pump up that high and for that distance. Most livewell pumps I have seen on pontoons are bilge pumps that have the outlet discharging into livewell. They have a much larger output capacity and lift than well pump.

The pump needs to be below the water line. Most fishing boats have them mounted in the bottom of the boat. You could prime it pour water down into the pump from the live well that should get it going.
On mine, the outlet or hose that runs to the live well off the pump had to be at the 8 o'clock position or it wouldn't pump the water to the live well......figured that out after actually reading the instructions ......![]()
