I have a few questions. What's the purpose of the loop knot at the top of the slab rig? I assume it is a way to attach to the main line? Why not just use a swivel? Also, is the hi-vis line necessary for long-lining? I'm not a big fan of it. If so, what is the major benefit? Sorry for all the questions, I am getting ready to take the plunge into long-lining and cranks, and only want to have to rig up once.
This is where I talked about what I called the "Slab Rig" originally, no biggie really, just a variant of what everyone does anyway. http://www.crappie.com/crappie/conte...acation&page=2

I used high vis only for demonstration purposes, so it would show up in the camera. And the lengths between the jigs are short in the picture too. So it would fit in one pic. For line I use Fluorocarbon. Anyway, you can read the story.

And yes, I use a loop at the front so I can switch from cranking to long lining easy enough. To switch up on speed mostly. I prefer to crank to cover more ground when they are not hitting, so I can find them more quickly.
