actually I worked at what was then Josh's Landing (which was between Lawrence Landing and Brim Nest - both of which no longer exist) for three summers back in the late 60's and early 70's while going to school at UCA (then, SCA) and have fished it for brim for years. have just taken up crappie fishing seriously in the last 9 months after I retired last July

have been out out when capping and u r right about it not being much fun. when I have been out in the cold or rain this fall and winter, I usually have on a red outfit rain suit.

You cant see it, but there is a notch in the side of the ducer mount that holds a very small zip tie. The larger ones hold it on too well, and you could still break the mount if you use them. I use two screws at bottom of the mount( not in the mount, but below it) to keep the ducer from rocking from side to side. Seems rigged, but like I said I am cheap! You could fix up something nicer if you wanted to spend a few bucks. If you wanna spend more than a few bucks, look up Cane Pole's thread on building a trim-style transducer mount. I will see if I can find it.
    Great idea!

After I mounted my LSS2 transducer, which is only slightly shorter than my boat, I was so concerned that I would know it off on a stump I bought one of the portable mounts from BPS so I could raise and lower it as needed.
This a picture of it on my boat before I moved it to the portable mount, pictured at right.

That's what I put on my boat. Easy to slide up or down. I have had no issues and I didn't have to drill a hole in my transom.

Well great. NOW you tell me.

I get a new depthfinder, and after going through major grief to get the old one off intact........I had to 'guess' best I could and drill new holes for the new one (being SI it has to be further away from prop).......and never ever thought of this. And I don't even know yet if it works, because the boat tires have been frozen to the pavement for months, and now that they are thawing, there are floods everywhere!

This ranks up there with painting the INSIDE of jugs for jug fishing!!! Not sure what stops it when lowering it into the water, but surely something does.

If I put my transducer in wrong, I'm going to drive y'all crazy to help me figure out how to do this when I do it over!

    P.S.
    You should patent this. Seriously.

Here is a link to what I bought for my boat since I couldn't figure out a way to attach transducer to my Power Drive V2 trolling motor. I got the one with the flexible shaft..might work for you. I think it was less than $70 delivered. main page for bow mounted depthfinder fishfinder tackle box labels in red blue for plano and other tackle boxes

I too use this mount works great. I just take it off when I get ready to motor to another spot.
