Hi everyone. I'm new to the board, but have snooped around for awhile and enjoy the content. I have what may be a silly question. I bought a trolling motor with a built in transducer. I am wondering if the depth shown on the screen is from the bottom of the transducer to the bottom of the lake, or are these things so high tech that they compensate for the depth of the trolling motor in the water.

For example, if the trolling motor sticks down in the water 2 feet, and the screen says the water is 6 feet deep, does that mean the water is actually 8 feet deep? Or does the transducer realize it is 2 feet deep and allow for that?

The trolling motor is a Minn Kota Terrova in case that matters.

Thanks for any help!
