ZEROED on crappie!!! Scanned the entire lake with side imaging. Never saw one ball of shad. Saw a ton of fish tho. Ended up catching what i think all the fish were. GAR! Beautiful lake with a great channel. But i havent seen a crappie from there yet! Lol

My wife's uncle, now deceased, used to live on that lake. My hunting buddy has part ownership in a house there too. We went ONCE, and caught a ton of bream.....and three very small crappie. That was years ago...... It sure does look like crappie.......

I grew up fishing a lot of the oxbow lakes along the White River. The crappie fishing has been aweful the last couple of years. The shad population has crashed and I believe it is due to the large population of grass crap that have taken over in the river. The grass crap consume the planton therefore the bait fish do not have a food source. In May, there use to be incredible populations of shad in the river system and now there are few shad balls encountered.
If I want to go fishing in an oxbow lake now I drive to Lake Washington in MS.

If the river ain't right it's terrible.
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.
The sheep live in fear of the wolf but in the end it's the shepherd that eats them.
The two loudest sounds are a gun that goes click when it is supposed to go bang and
a gun the goes bang when it is supposed to go click.

When the water is rite, the best crappie fishing on East Lake is in #2 Redcat. Take East Bayou until it makes a right. Go straight through the brush and you will run into #1. Follow it to the end and go through the brush again and you will be in #2. They won't be many big fish but a lot of keepers. Spring time is the best. Good probability you will be the only boat fishing it most days.
    Tell'em I'll be there.

What is the water level for it to be right? I've never been there but would like to try it some time. Thanks.
