The Terrova is actually easier to run in super shallow waters. Raise the head straight up or hit the latch and tilt it.

I bought a brand new boat in March. I mainly crappie fish, but occasionally bass fish, so I chose a minn kota fortrex 80lb thrust for a trolling motor. Just now starting to wonder how bad did I screw up and should have went with the terrova with I-pilot? Any inputs regarding this subject? My logic for the fortrex was because its foot powered with a lift rope. So if i got hung up near the bank I could lift the rope and troll right up to the bait in shallow water. And didn't figure it would be that easy with the terrova because of the way it stows and deploys. Now Im realizing that Im thinking that my bass fishing is on the down and out. The more I learn about crappie the less im motivated to ever throw a bass bait. So would like to have inputs on whether I should sell fortrex and buy terrova? I have side and down image graphs and trolling pods. set up to solo pole, spider rig, and troll cranks. Thatnks for any advice.

I have a terrova, it is ok, but I hate the noise of the electric steer.

If you are comfortable with the "feel" of your cable driven TM the terrova will take some getting use to. I fished bass tourneys since the early 80's. However for crappie fishing exclusively the terrova wins BIG time. It is SO nice to set a course and speed and not have to constantly bump the trolling motor with my foot. Also to set a spider rigging track during a successful pass and be able to follow that track exactly just adds more fish to the freezer. I LOVE the hand held remote.... SPOT LOCK!, when you have to re-tie, re-bait or whatever just hit spot lock and even if the wind is blowing when you get back to ready to fish you are right back to where you left off. I have only had my 80lb Terrova for 3 months but the most I learn during fishing the more I like it.
Also just put a power pole micro on my rig and used it today at Adkins for the 1st time. THAT THING ROCKS as well!!
I have a 101 fortrex and electric remote steer. I really like the fortrex and you didn't go wrong with your purchase. The remote tm is nice but useless if you jig with two poles. Have to hook up the peddle. Just my 2 cents.

If you want to sell it, I'm looking for a 80 lb. TM.
The Fortrex is a great trolling motor. The cable drives turn much faster in timber and cover than the Terrova motors. Lots of guys like that better. You made a great choice if it fits YOUR style of fishing best.
