Default Finally found a way to reduce the dink catch

Those Southern Pro 2.5'' Tubes in Capps and Coleman or Walleye in the glow colors helps. I been putting them on 1/4 oz heads and catching fewer dinks. That big jig easier to keep up with when verticle jigging too! This morning I only caught 62 according to my counter they sent. I kept a limit of the better fish and released about 6 more over 10''. 26/62 is better average than most trips using smaller jigs. Sometimes ya just get tired of the little ones hitting. Would have posted a photo of my limit but have friends wanting to cook fish tonight so I gave them away.

Good idea. Only fished Lake Nimrod once but quit and went home early due to so many dinks.

Not just here , I always look at stomach contents of my fish at cleaning. Some folks would be suprized how big of bait I find. Crappie have big mouths for a reason , to eat anything that will fit. Them big Dardanelle Crappie hammer those big baits too!

This is true for White Crappie, which is mainly what you will find in Nimrod and Dardanelle, but Blacks have smaller mouths and feed mostly on bugs and invertibrates. When targeting, Black Crappie, bigger isn't always better.

Good to know since as far as I know the river I fish is predominantly blacks. I say this because my buddy and I have just started crappie fishing and have yet to find white perch. I requested large minnows because I thought that was the answer to bigger fish but didn't catch but one. This forum is full of useful information! Next time it will be crickets and wigglers!

Crickets will work, but you are likely to catch more Bream on that than anything else. I would recommend small hair jigs tipped with a wax worm.

Still trying to figure out how to increase the dink catch here, but still good info for the big fish catching people.

Can I get a demo of this for a small fee?
