This is the first year I have missed opening day of deer season since I started hunting when I was 16, I'm 56 now. But I have a bad case of crappie fever and just couldn't make myself go to the woods. Caught some good crappie, but can't share any pics until my new digital camera comes in. Did go hunting on the windy and stormy days last week. I got a doe, had to get some deer meat. My vote is the 2 lb crappie which I caught a couple of last week.

    A bad day of fishing
beats a good day at work.

    My son's buck.

We taken 3 deer and a hog ,so we have been busy processing meat. I have plenty of fish in the freezer ,but that don't help the fishing fever. Ha! HA!:D

Thanks ,my son was proud of his buck . I've killed some in the past that dwarf his buck , but not so far this year.My regular fishing boat is an Alumaweld 17' with a 70hp Yamaha. I got a canoe and small 14' waco for getting back in the woods with in high water. We are in Yell County 9 miles west of Perry County line.
Here are a few of my past kills. I have a pile of antlers in the barn.:D

For a reference that mounted Bass is 28'' long 11 lbs.

This one is not that hard, of couse i would take the buck over the crappie, lets see deer season is only a couple of months and fishing season is the rest of the year. Its alot easier to feed the kids with 120lbs of deer meat than it is with 2lbs of crappie.
You can't fish with a hung line!

yeah, but you only get that one buck (MAYBE) and at the risk of sounding like I'm from MS, I guarantee you'll get 120lbs. of 2lb.-ers in a year's time. Oh well, I have to admit, tenderized backstrap rolled in flour and black pepper fried in bacon grease sure is good.

I dont know why you and Jerry don't have a huntin honey hole on Greeson as much as your on the lake. You guys could kill your limit of 4 deer and not have to hunt 4 hours of the season to do it. I bet you could even parlay your deer innards into 120 pounds of catfish with a well placed trotline.

If I lived closer to Greeson I would plant one of those coves or mud flats in oats in September and by gun season I bet it would be a killin field.

I know they have the honkers on Greeson but do you guys get ducks of any ammount down there in the winter? I bet when the Grand Prarie and Delta freeze you pick up some birds.
