    Default Camping spots

Nimrods city slicker thread got me to thinking. What camping area would be good for my wife, kids and I to go camping and fishing at. I really want my kids to get involved in some primitive camping and fishing. We won't be taking a boat this trip but wouldn't mind catching some fish off the bank. I've caught a few here lately here in the local park off the bank close to the river and another private lake off the bank but from a boat. Any suggestions for a good camping trip with my wife and two lil girls to get in on some decent fishing? If no good fishing maybe just some quality camping. Thanks

There is plenty of stuff to do besides fishing at Kirbyville or Daisy State park on Greeson. I would fish at least one day with the guides at Action fishing Trips. There is Crater of Diamonds near by, The falls at the head of the Little Missouri, eagle sight seeing trips by the park rangers, Etc. DP

Maybe you'd better clarify what you consider primitive camping. So far the responses haven't been consistent with what's generally considered primitive.

If in central Arkansas, try Wooly Hollow State Park (north of Greenbrier on Hwy 65). Very nice camp grounds, some of which are lake side. Lake Bennett has a good bluegill, bass, and catfish population. Only trolling motors or paddling allowed for water craft. Plenty of bank fishing opportunities. There is also a short interpretative hiking trail and a playground forbthe kids. I highly recommend. I bring the family there at least once a year. There is also plenty of wildlife around. We always see some foxes messing around camp at night. Pretty cool.
