I have a Bird 597 w/gps and have the Lake Maps Premium South 2006 model. When I/m running down the middle of the Arkansas River, it shows me cruising on dry land. Any pointers or info would be helpful. Is it the unit or map card. Thanks.

There should be a setting on your bird to adjust it in the nav menu. Go to youtube for instructions.

If the water level was way low when they surveyed the area, that can happen. When the water rises back up, it looks like you're running on dry ground where they were unable to survey.
Sometimes the military will have the GPS satellites set up with a big offset for military reasons also. Not sure about the HB units , but Lowrance has a setting to adjust for the offset.
