Interesting you mentioned this. It sure gets expensive though. Before we got married, my wife went fishing with me more than she does now. I couldn't get her to act right with the rear anchor and felt sorry for her. With all of the gift cards we recieved as wedding presents I was able to get her an anchor winch that I operate from the front of the boat. She took another card and added about $200 with it to buy some phoo phoo for the house.
Last year I used a gift card someone gave us as an anniversury gift to buy a cordless drill hammer. I was thinking about all of the projects we could do around the house with it. I wasn't being selfish. She had to buy a $2500 dining room set (because I used her card for the drill). This is the most wasted area in a house that I can think of. I look forward to the two or three times a year we finally get to use this 300 sq ft and the thousands of $$$ furnishing it.
For me, I don't win buying her stuff to make her life easier. It cost me more than I make.
