    Default Greeson Report

I have actually made more fishing trips in the last month than I did all of last year. I met up with some cousins that were camped last week at Daisy on Greeson. Normally, I just fish the condos with small minners. But, this trip I had a bunch of new Minner Critters, a box full of new Bandits, a new trolling battery accompanied with a new on board charger.
I didn't do so well with the Critters; the crappie on this lake likes their presentation small. I can't wait to get on Dardenelle or Nimrod with my new critters. So...
I was anxious to give my battery a trial run. I have been two years trying to figure out my trolling problems with limited fishing. Long story short....after three batteries, two trolling motors, and a couple of chargers, I think I finally got it solved with my newest charger. My previous on board and external charger just don't do the job my new on board does.
For the first time ever on this lake, I did well pulling Bandits through the shad balls about 12 feet deep in 20' of water. The front came through the next morning. I was able to locate some crappies off of main lake points with minners and casting white/chatruse joker jigs.
We ate all of the fish before I took any pics.

What a major change in a lake. We camped on Greeson for a half a month in the spring many, many years........back before the "Big Drawdown" and all the bank buckbrush died in all those coves. We caught a literal bazillion of those scrappy black crappie every April. Now it's totally different, and you have to find the brushpiles the two guides have put out. Ugh.

Don't understand Daisy State Park either. I have tried to (as a test) 'book' a camping site there and it just won't let me. Lake Dardanelle will........although NONE of the State Parks let you choose a specific site like the ReserveAmerica site does for COE sites. They really need to upgrade that system. It just keeps telling me that "none are available" and it has about 10 choice for the exact same type of campsite.

Course, could be LOSER operator error!!!!

Good job, Don! Sounds like you had a great time. Always wanted to pull the camper down there and stay a week and try to find some of Jerry's condos! Thanks for the post.
My wife keeps saying I never listen to her....... or something like that!

I haven't been to Greeson in a few years but I know Jerry and Daryl and others have done a tremendous job getting that lake in shape! You might also try Degray...Agrihawg and his kids have done an outstanding job with that lake...They may have raised the lake level a foot with all the bamboo and concrete they have put in!!! lol. Great job to all the guys that help our waters...we are truely blessed to live in this state!!

Nimrod has been hot but slowing for some reason. Maybe the COE will open up soon. Glad there are still some spots open to the public on some lakes.

We don't do enough bragging on these guys that actually do develope good lakes to fish. Nimrod does his share too. Thanks to those I failed to mention.

Thanks Scrapper and congrats on being demoted to Moderator . We all should build a little on our home lakes if possiable. We have had a couple Crappie.com builds and even worked with the COE rebuilding a few.
