Hey Larry:
We tried to have a schedule at the Spring Crappie Camp but the weather messed it up pretty well. We will probably have fish fry and pot luck dinners on Saturday and Sunday evenings. I'm sure there will be plenty of fish caught so DON'T BRING FISH unless you have a way to keep it frozen if we don't use it. Sunset will be about 5:30 so we'll string up some lights and probably have a campfire to sit around while we cook fish and eat. Everybody should plan on bringing one side dish, their own chair and plates and tableware as well as a serving spoon if needed for whatever they bring.
We'll have some mini-seminars but we'll schedule those a day or so in advance and post the schedule in one central information area. The key for a successful Crappie Camp is for everyone to be prepared to ask questions and share their experience and knowledge. Darryl and I will be available to demonstrate our "Hovering" system, including how we use our graphs and GPS receivers to locate cover and fish. We also plan on showing how we build and sink bamboo crappie condos and how we determine where to place them.
I'd like to have several folks demonstrate their fly tying set-ups and techniques and somebody mentioned bringing their lead pouring equipment and maybe demonstrating how they pour jigs. That's exactly the type information we want to share - anything related to crappie fishing from boats to tackle to electronics to the various methods used to pursue the taste little critters.
