Hey Handi, what brand and lengths of rod are those, if you don't mind sharing that info? What about the reels? I'm still spending money on spider rigging but someday I'd like to branch out to pulling cranks. Always wanted to but just haven't. Thanks for any help.

I spider rig and troll with the same stuff. I use B&M trolling rods, 9' and 10' and "bargain" reels. My money is in the Bandits. About $400 so far (replacement cost); I don't count the ones already lost. Mrs DP still wants to know who Creekslick is. I tell her the one with the shiney head.

I use BnM PST's in 8, 12 and 16 off the side. The Wally Marshall tightline special are another good option but lots of rods will work. Im currently using Okuma Magda Pro Line Counters in either the 15 or 20 version. They work well and cost abour $30 each.

Is she gunning for Creek blaming him for your Bandit addiction! The reason I ask is my spider rigging poles are all the same length, 14 footers. So I think to pull cranks out the side I would need two shorter rods, like a 10' and a 6' (seems like I have been told they need to be at least 4 feet apart to avoid tangles) of 16', 12' and 8' rods.

That sounds like the setup that Creek uses, or very similar. Thanks, Kenyon,

Yup!! Our Discover card had over $250 to Academy when I first set up to troll. I told her Creekslick made me do it.
