    Default A Conway Killer/8-28-13

If I had to pick one bait to fish Conway with it would be the trimmed White and Chart Midsouth tube on a 10 foot Ozark rod. Cypress tree death for a crappie here on Conway. Fish are still holding deep in 7-8 foot of water just off the bottom in the shade of big wide based cypress trees and along the trees and cover around old lake bed edges. Water temp a balmy 87 degrees.

I think you are too extreme trimming your tubes. Here they slam big old umbrella tubes all year long, key is presentation over here. But if it works for you carry on!

.CA no offense but don't you think I have tried your beloved umbrella tubes on Conway in the summer. Your more than welcome to bring your umbrella tubes over here and try em with me. These fish can get hard to catch and sometimes your bait needs to be very detailed or they wont bite. Yes sometimes it don't matter but on a tuff bite you better know how to down size and pay attention to detail.

Russ, I'm afraid your countless posts of them Conway slabs have given lots of people some false hope. Every year, numerous people leave Conway's boat ramps broken-hearted, never to return. It takes skill and dedication to get them bad boys out of there. Good job.

That'll be 15 cents sir. I may have overcharged a little, but you know how it is, inflation and all.

Don't give up they still gotta eat. Too many folks throw in the towel instead of putting in the time and effort.
