Believe cabelas has a HDS 8 with insight for $900 in the bargain cave, no SS but you can get that for $500 or less, and be set. I've got a 8 (G1) on a ram mount at the console on my PT175 and happy with it. The LSS 2 is bigger than the LSS1, I've got the LSS1 and it sticks out a couple inches beyond the transom with it mounted to the back of the step. GL

2 or 3K? Man, I thought I was rocking it when I stepped up to a $300 color humminbird with downscan. One of those Humminbird 360 setups would be in your price range.
