Any advice on fishing for crappie in a large water shed this time of year?

I have sure increased my odds by trolling unknown waters. I only use Bandit 300s. If the lake is shallow, I slow down and pull jigs. Mark any likely brush you come across so you can return and work it over spider rigging.

If you can pull and push cranks, this will also help you find lots of brush. Thermocline info is spot on. Unless it is a HUGE watershed, it probably needs lots of crappie taken out of it.

Thank you guys a bunch. I was using my canoe but I'm going to deck it out with pole holders trolling motor and depth finder then I can do that stuff
I pull 4 cranks at a time with my kayak.

I used to fish a water shed around Vandale. There were so many crappie in it you did not really have to try to catch them. I just laid a rod on each side of the boat with a 1/8 oz jig, let out 10' of line and I caught crappie like crazy. The only down side was that it was so overpopulated it made Nimrod crappie look like 2lb slabs.
Mb4850 I would be interested in how you do it I've never trolled and only really fish for crappie in gold creek on lake conway which is basically cheating. I would love to learn some tips. It's my favorite fishing by far
Going to a new water hole in the am. Never been here don't have sonar so ill just be guessing. Any advice in how to start my day in the canoe?
