Rollin up that river in the fog was alot of fun. It was very refreshing and woke you up in the morning. We went 9 miles up river every morning and it was a chilly ride for sure. I definitely had my life jacket on I wasn't taking a chance with those boulders in the water! One of my coworkers got knocked into the water by a branch but he was fine he "doggie paddled" back to the boat. We all had a good laugh at his expense.

Sounds like a great trip. Gonna have to try that myself one of these days
That the mouth of Big Creek and when the river is low and warms up those brownies will wonder out in the river for about 300 yards in each direction and can be some of the best smallmouth fishing around. Good catch and report.
I haven't fished Crooked since I was a kid in Harrison but I know there are some nice smallies in there. Buffalo is hard to beat. If you can't catch smallies there you can't catch smallies. Upper and middle for quantity (when there's water), lower for quality. Green pumpkin tube on a jig head always produces. Here's a zample of a lower Buffy bronzeback. The nice thing about the lower (below Gilbert) is you can always float it, even in the dog days. Everyone should float fish the Buffalo at least once.
