    Default LOSER Tip #684

LOSER Tip #684: When tournament fishing carry plenty of snacks and eat copious amounts all day long because you want to be as heavy as possible for the weigh in!

This is one of the most misunderstood things about tournament fishing. This isn’t a diet contest. More weight is better! You need to max out your weight potential on tournament day by ingesting as many calories as possible.

Personally I like the Little Debbie Fudge Rounds in the BIG size. A couple of those bad boys will have you feeling heavier in a hurry!

I keep trying to tell my partner this. I went through some PB crackers, a whole bag of trail mix and a 6 pack of Dr. Peppers when we fished Dardanelle. All he had was a couple of chips and a bottle of water. Of course, he did catch the biggest and most fish that day!

    You had time to fish????
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.

a gun the goes bang when it is supposed to go click.

This is absolutely the truth. it can be plumb dead and I can get a Dr. Pepper in one hand and some of them peanut butter crackers or little debbies in the other, and it's a guaranteed bite. Usually the biggest of the day.

If Little Debbie's and a Dr Pepper won't make the fish bite, pick up your cell phone and call your wife. This move will almost ensure that every pole that has a hook in the water will instantly have a fish on it! With your wife on the phone you can't just lay the phone down and start pulling in fish. You must first explain to her why you must quickly get off the phone to retrieve said fish. She will explain that you don't spend hours talking to her on the phone as you did when you were dating her and that you must not love her as much as you once did as you would rather have a bunch of fish near you instead of talking to her.
You will consider hanging up and calling her later and trying to explain the "dropped call" but you know it won't work as your phone "drops" a call near every time you talk to her. Once you have explained the importance of the fish in the tournament (prize money) you will finally get off the phone only to find all the fish are no longer on the hooks and all you have left is 8 lines in one big knot!
Make sure you didn't forget to tell her you love her before you hang up, or about the time you get all your poles straightened out the phone will ring......

I refused to carry food in a tournament back when I fished them. Every bite costs you a possiable fish bite.

i have never broken this rule on any outing, touney or not. in fact, I am usually the only thing biting in my boat.
no matter what I'm doing, I've got hunting or fishing on my mind...

Also eat allot of hot sauce to help make sure your sweating profusely when you lean over the scales to put your fish in. This may give you an extra tenth or two of an Ounce and take your time as long as possible. Then make sure partner is also jacked up on some hotsauce too... and both of you can lean over looking at your fish sweating on them and adding some wieght. The water may evaporate but the salt stay on em. Just a tip from the pros.
