You guys are a bunch of fair weather fisherman, don't wait it out, they are biting now on the rising water, just keep the rod tips low and you will be ok. Go get em!!! Don't let a little thunder and lightning scare you. This is the time they bite the best. Running home aint the answer. You can't win tournaments from the comfort of the couch or easy chair. If I had a bass tournament today I would be right there in the thick of things. Better safe than sorry, maybe you fair weather guys can get them next time.
Welcome to the home of the, boat eating, trolling motor busting, prop bending, lower unit smashing, stump filled mud hole called Lake Conway.

When I lived in Prairie Grove we had Bob Kid lake close to the house fished it almost every day. One day a little storm blew up and there were 2 people fishing in an aluminum boat. Lightning stuck them and woman died instantly and the other guy was severely injured. You can say fair weather fisherman all you want, but sometimes its better to be safe than sorry.
I agree. Lots of people say, "Aww, no big deal, I can handle it," about things such as: Lightning, Riding motorcycles without a helmet, driving like a bat out of he@$!!, and handling snakes(Geagle.) But what they are saying to themselves is, "It ain't gonna happen to me." Trust me, i've met people that have been struck, and when a dark cloud rolls in, they are the first ones on the ramp. I have finally reached a point in my life where I(sometimes,) think, "Maybe it COULD happen to me!!" Besides, my wife and kids would bever forgive me if I was too stubborn to get off the water and was killed. I would rather live to fish another day.

Well spoken CMJ.
Is winter over yet?
Have no fear, I didn't hit the water till I was sure it was safe to do so. Lightning and red wasp are the 2 things I fear in life and the reason behind that is that both of them will end my life quickly!
Being safe is my job and it goes home and on the water with me. I know quite a few of folks set it out Saturday morning waiting on the weather to clear.
I did watch several bass fishermen throwing spinner baits along the highway during the worst part of the lightning. They never checked up. I just went ahead and dialed 911 and kept my finger on the ready to hit send. I figured one of them would be a crispy critter at any moment.
I don't fault anyone for not fishing on a day like Saturday. It is a matter of choice and I respect that either way. I know in the end, the wife and I, even though we were soaking wet, had a great time. The muddy water got us and killed the bite we were on. It still doesn't matter. I got to spend a great long weekend with my wife. Life just doesn't get much better, fish or no fish!!![]()
I am sure there are some good lightning storys out the in this Tourney we just aint heard them yet. LOL
