Had 8 crappie and 4 small bream that I should've tossed back. Finally caught a few on jigs around brush. I got about half of them on jigs vs minnows. Bite seemed a little slow as I ran into a 3 some out on the lake that fish a lot and they told me they only had 15 between them and things were rather slow. I'm learning more and more about how to do the brush thing. So far cane seems to work a little better than cedar but we still catch a few on the cedar. I had my buddy from the IL page to tell me small brush is better than big piles....so far I have to disagree with him there. Next season I'm not making as many area's but making some big areas. I was kinda expecting a couple guys to call me about jobs today like they said they would so disappointed there. If I'm off much longer with the wife working and me fishing i'm sure i'll hear about it! Next trip for me is planned for Friday morning. By the way minners stayed nice and lively all day today. I bought a pound yesterday evening and my large ice chest was the only problem....it leaks! I think I can get another one though and all should be fine. I talked to the guy who picks up fish scraps at the ramp while cleaning mine and he said only one other place had more today than I did and they had their limit of big crappie but he told me that guy fishes all the time too. I replied well I struggled to get what I got but they are of the larger variety at least.

Hope the job situation turns around for you! It's on my prayer list.

Congrats on a good catch. I love it when hard work and perseverance pays off.

They was good, fried some up this evening as the storms stayed North of us. Tornado hit that same lake today (Dequeen Lake). I do construction safety or can do the general industry also as the OSHA 1910 and 1926 standards are about the same. With all the rain the Mena area got today i'm sure the lakes will both get back up big again screwing fishing up for a while again.
