    Default Butt Kicked on Dardanelle

Well I went to Dardanelle with my father in law and his buddy today. We fished from 7 till noon near Illinois Bayou. The wind blew out of the south at about 10 mph. We single pole jigged brush piles in 8 to 12 foot of water and only managed 3 crappie. They were good ones though (no pictures). I caught zero but I did catch a dozen white bass and 3 largemouth. It was a tough morning. I hope you pros have better luck this weekend at the tournament.

At least you didn't get skunked. Just curious, how many piles did you fish?

We fished at least a dozen. I wanted to bring minnows but the other 2 said no minners allowed on this trip. Wish I would.have snuck some on the boat.

My go-to baits for fishing brush there are silver/chart Midsouth tube and Pumpkinseed/chart Slab Slayer, both with an 1/8 oz pink head. I normally use minners when trolling. Usually works for me. They may have been in the channels today.

We tried midsouth silver/char, white/char, red/char, black/char and several other combos, on chart, pink, and orange heads. The white bass really liked the chart head with white/char body.

Conway caught them all out. There are no crappie left in Dardanelle.

Always take some minners just in case.

I'm so tired of hearing about not using minners! I think that there has been so much "minnow bashing" on here that guys are reluctant to use minnows. I am a decent jig fisherman and can hold my own with just about anyone but I take minnows every trip and use 'em.
With the crappie in a neutral post spawn feeding attitude now minnows will definitely help a guy be more successful.

Guess if you can afford minnows to fish everyday more power to ya. I seldom have trouble catching plenty on jigs. Fish should be hungry and aggressive in post spawn mood if ya can find them.

What's the matter? Is your "woman" not giving you enough allowance to buy gas and minners??
