Holidays mean a lot to me. I doubt any of them mean more than this one. We sit and talk about anything we want to talk about. We like who we like. We dislike who we dislike. We vote this way and that. We pick our leaders (we suck at it, but we get to do it). We go to well stocked stores and buy fresh, ripe tomatoes.......year round. We fish on lots and LOTS of different lakes. We hunt lots of animals. We travel to distant places to see our grandkids, without ever being pulled over to 'see our papers'. We worship our God the way we want (some are not good at this either, but they get to choose). We give thanks to Him for giving us breath and life and choice.

But we need to thank those guys who put on what I used to call "Loose, green, baggy skin" (fatigues) and they marched, and trained, and flew, and drove, and washed, and cleaned, and aimed and fired......at our enemy, because we didn't have to. We let them do it for us. We live FREE because they chose to do it.

The Lord gave us a Savior, who FREELY gave his life so we could live with him in the Next Life.

The US Military gave their lives, by the countless thousands, so we could live FREE here until we get to that glorious next life.

Don't just go fishing this weekend guys. Stop every so often, and think about how there was a guy somewhere, who would have LOVED to have been fishing on Memorial Day in May......but he died so that you could go anywhere you want, and do it your way.

Sorry to be maudlin. But this day means a lot to me. I'm just asking that you give a few moments to reflect on who we are, and how we got here, and who we need to give thanks to.

Happy Memorial Day to all of y'all. Thanks for all your help this year.
