    Who uses them to locate crappie? If so what sizes do you like and what color combos?

    If you use a weight to get them to the right depth, ( I use a 3oz inline on my main line, and a 3' leader to the bait) they work just like a regular crank. Some use the weight technique and push them like spider riggin.

    I suppose you could throw em in shallow water and they would work kinda like a spinnerbait does. I've never done that tho.

    I've seen some "monster" crappie caught trolling them.

    FYI, a 3oz weight at approx. 1.7-2 mph will travel at 2/3 of the amount of line out on a line counter reel, and with a 3' leader, the bait will go down 1' below the weight. ANY diving bait, no matter the size.

    To fish a bait 15' deep--
    Let out 21' of line = 14'
    Bait depth. +1'
    Equals. 15'

    That got over my head real fast!

    All jokes aside, I hope I progress to the point that this becomes useful information to me.

    Easy. Take the line out with a 3oz weight, divide it by three and use two of the thirds plus 1' to get your baits running depth.

    10'= 15' line out. Bait runs 11' deep
    12' = 18' line out. Bait runs 13' deep
    9' = 13.5' line out. Bait runs 10' deep
    8'= 12' line out. Bait runs 9' deep.

    Simple 3rd grade math.

    I might have to take you up on that. I'm intimidated at the prospect of hauling my boat off to Sippi and discovering that I have no idea what to do once I get there!
