Nice work C.J.
Good fish Chris! I'm envious. You guys in the central part if the state have a good variety if water to fish.
Chris great catch. Those river fish always look so healthy. I want to try to learn to fish the Arkansas river at Van Buren. I'm just not sure where to start with the lock and dam system. It's a river, it's a lake, it's just different. Do you just fish along the bank and look for laydown trees and try to find brush tops?
Nice fish
"WOW" nice spotted bass and crappie!! Double "WOW"!!!!
I mainly look for jetties or points that jut out into the river, causing slack water. (Anything that breaks the current.) You can get behind those jetties down river from the dam and look for the seam where the water reverses direction. Also, those sandy backwater areas are really good right now too. Laydowns are good if the current isn't too strong, fish the down river side.
This is where I would start

Thanks, Chris, for a great post and pics! Very helpful too for anyone who wants to try to river fish, me included!
CMJ. I hate you, you no good low down trolling, single poling, bobber casting, tight lining, jig dragging, crank bait hanging, trash fish catching, fish pic showing, rubbing it in fool. :biggrin When we going?
