    Default Crank Bait Depth

Wonder if anyone know when trolling with crankbaits, how much deeper will a crankbait rated 2-4 feet go with 200' of line out going 2mph?
    Thanks, Boliver

Troll over a flat and find out. It'll be a little difficult make your turns. How deep are you wanting to go?

I have a chart for Bandit 200's and 300's.....but nothing with a crank bait that runs that shallow.

That's the charts I use as well. I'm not sure what he is trying to accomplish. He may be wanting a shallow bait to run deep, or he may be wanting the bait to stay that shallow but be that far from the boat to prevent spooking his fish. Either one could probably be accomplished with some funky rigging.

Had a day year before last that the fish would not hit a 300, but would hit a 200 of the same color at the same depth. Only reasoning I could figure was the 200 was farther from the boat.

I agree....need more details to figure out what he is trying to do.......He can always push the cranks to control a shallower depth better

I was just wondering, have been find fish 11-12' suspended in 15-25 ft of water. They don't bite unless lure is way behind the boat (125' or more) . The lure are several kinds, some are Bandits some excaliber, crappie cranks etc. Thanks Boliver

Go with a 200 and use a larger diameter line like 15lb or so.

Just for a matter of information, I just looked up the bandit 100 and it will run 12 feet deep with 150 feet of 10lb test line out. It then will not go any deeper. Speeding up will not make it go any deeper.
