Those Asian carp will jump when your motor hits a low/mid rpm... They'll shoot up around your boat. I rarely see them jump for any other reason.

Driving around Mallard Lake today looking around trying to figure out why it had to be so windy.... Turn the corner on the north west side where they were pumping water in from Muck Ditch and noticed some huge fish trying to escape the lake. If I were them I wouldn't want to be stuck in there either. Just thought it was weird that these things seem to be everywhere now. I took a video but I'm too computer dumb to put it on here.
Crappie are snobby..... Why can't they be easy to catch...Like bass?

Ohh they were jumping from the pump running or the water hitting the rocks or water hitting the water.... I dont know but it makes me mad that they are everywhere and they are dangerous. I can't imagine what would happen if while running full speed one of those 20 lb monsters hits me in the head and knocks me out or kills me.

First encounter I had with these I was on the AR river looking at a gator, he slides off in the water and next thing I know something is flying at my buddy in the front of the boat.... Hit him square in the head.... He rolled around fighting with that thing for what seemed like forever... He thought the alligator came after him... I've never laughed so hard in my life... Whole front of my boat was covered in blood, looked like someone was murdered Ha!
It would be a shame if the only thing that survived last years draw down was those useless Asian Carp!![]()

I live in Lake City and Mallard is only about half an hour from the house but I haven't even made the drive over there yet this year.
Please send us the video. We haven’t seen any Asian Carp in the lake but that doesn’t mean that they aren’t in there. We have sampled the lake at the pump while it was running but the water temperature was still in the 40’s. We sampled the bass population on April 16. We did 10 runs and sampled 73 bass. They appeared to have already spawned. That is lower than in the past couple of years but most of the fish were from 2 to 5 pounds. We had a difficult time sampling in the vegetation. It deflects the electricity thus the fish can avoid the electrical field.
All,
We plan on sampling the area around the pump at Mallard Lake next Tuesday (4/30) to look for Asian Carp. We have invited JoeFish to come along with us to look for them. We will let everyone know what we find.
