I have never said there actually are 3lb crappie in Lake Poinsett, I was only repeating what I have been told
Here's how the conversation usually goes when I pull up to the ramp with my usually load of 15 slabs about 8 inches long if I've had a good day.
Dude at ramp "Catch any fish?"
RC "yeah a few"
Dude at ramp "can I see em?"
RC "sure"
Dude lifts top on cooler and laughs and says "I catch 2 and 3 lbers out of here all time"
RC "how many fish you catch today"
Dude at ramp "none"
Then he walks away. This is true and happens all the time. A 3lber at poinsett thickness would probably need to be close to 20 inches long. They could be in there. The longest crappie I have caught out of there was 15.5 inches. It would not weigh 2 lbs. It may have broken 2 if full of eggs.
Those black crappie out of Conway are heavy rascals and that is truly a wall hanger in the pic.
