    Default Old Town Reports?

My dad and I are planning to head to Old Town Sat. if the weather will cooperate. Any reports, suggestions, strategies you guys are willing to share would be great.

We have went there 4 times in 5 years and we have not done well yet. But, with our Black River Bays up and muddier and the MS River Oxbows getting messed up we are running out of options that are within 2 hrs.

    Thanks guys!

They should be turning on, but I've heard lots of folks talking about the size aint' what it used to be down there. I'd let dad fish with a minner and I'd jig (blue/chart)around the laydowns up in the cypress trees and see what happens. Don't be afraid to pitch a jig with an ultralight across some of the openings between trees. Have seen that save the day before.

Yeah I've only got to fish it a couple times this year and the size definitely hasn't been what it normally is. Out of my 2 trips red/white was the most productive colors and jigs outfished minners.

We have fished Old Town hard the past 6 weeks and my dad is actually there today..As of noon he had 1 keeper. We done pretty good there in March caught on average 30 a day between the two of us but the spawn is over for the most part caught mostly males the last two weekends. If I were you Id for sure fish the North end from the main ramp off the highway. We have caught a few males lately but not much size just decent keepers. Our best color has been a southern pro red chartreuse with a chartreuse head around the knees and hollow dead trees lately.Just my two cents for what its worth.Good luck if you head over there hope you can figure em out!

I appreciate the tip. We will start in that direction/pattern and see how we do. I hope with the rain and storms they don't open the spillway. I have a feeling based on the forecast we may be hiding in the woods during some storms praying we don't get struck by lightning. We have prepared to be able to do a little bit of every technique we have ever heard of tomorrow. I may end up tied up between a big cypress cluster and just pitching a minnow rig taking a nap in the rain.
