Default Trip to Dequeen lake today...

Trip to Dequeen lake today was very unproductive. I only caught one crappie and let what I think was another one get off before I could see it. Someone said I have the worst luck I really think it's these lakes around here. My buddy was at Gillham today and it sucked there too, not sure he ever boated a crappie last I talked to him. I talked to 4 other boats today and outa them all with myself included I think there was a grand total of 5 crappie caught. Most seem to be at the 10-12' range. I went to all my deeper brush but no fish on it for the most part. I had a jig pole with a minner and a jig pole with a couple of jigs and at times was casting a blue/chart jig to the bank. I guess the only good thing about todays trip was the rod I found floating. It was a brand new 12' crappie pole with reel and jig attached. I took it by an older gentleman I know was out there and asked him if it was his cause it had his favorite flavor jig on it and he said no but if you don't want it I'll take it. I kinda needed one more rod anyways. I'm bout ready to get on some better crappie waters I know that! Like my buddy said today this next year we just need to scrap all these no good waters and save $ for trips to where we know there's a few fish. They aren't even many people camped down on the lake....darn lakes not got any fish in it to speak of why would they waste their time and $ camping down there. It didn't used to be that way. Least they did re-stock Dequeen with a few more crappie, it needed them!

Yeah I'm talking to him on phone now and he said he was half asleep when he posted it all. Fact is fishing just sucks on these waters kinda like the Hot Springs area lakes. Since I fished Degray a lot while back I look at the weekly fishing reports for it and the crappie bite is just about non-existent??? That's cause they ain't no fishing to be had there, this is Spring of the year when they oughta be biting. If it's not Dardnelle, Conway, Blue Mtn, Nimrod, or the SE AR/Mississippi lakes that seem to be hot it's not all good when it comes to the crappie fishing. I'll saw a whole tree of in the lake but if the fish aren't there your not going to catch many off it. I still think we can catch a few off our deep brush but I think it will be on into the Summer, it won't be many, but they'll most likely be bigger. Hard to believe water temps are mid 60's to upper 60's and the fish seem to bite better when Hot Summer hits??? I may try LR some more now that it's stabilizing....it's been up and muddy lately so it's been hard to fish.

Yesterday I caught a limit in the brush on Nimrod but with falling water they were not there today. Checked my normal spots with little luck. I'll be returning to Dardanelle soon. The fish here (Nimrod) look small and anorexic after catching those fat Dardanelle slabs all winter and spring.
