I didn't name it, but Horners Bay is, indeed, an oxbow off of the Black River. It is south of Portia. You can locate it on Google earth where it is labeled as "Horners Bay". Go figure?!?!?!?

Where is Horner's Bay? And how do you get there? Is it a large body of water? Are y'all calling oxbows "bays"?
My wife keeps saying I never listen to her....... or something like that!

There's also a Tucker Bay and Robinson Bay. All along the Black river running south from Portia. Horners Bay is the first one below Portia Bay on the east side of the river. It used to be quite a crappie hole back in the day.
I've seen some good fish from there, but haven't heard anything recently. I just measured it and it looks to be about 1.7 miles in total length.

I've caught several crappie out of there that were 3+ pounds. The biggest crappie that my father-in-law ever caught came out of there and it was 4.25 pounds. But that has been 10 years ago....
The land that leads to tucker bay is posted, its a shame we own it(afg) and cann't fish it.Robinson is clear and up maybe a foot or less.Alot of oxbows up and down black river but most are posted, sunshine is the one past shirey and farther down twin lakes are posted. If agf doesn't own it its more likely posted and some they own you cann't
cross the land leading to them.Wilson lake, straight lake just to name a few you can no longer fish.

There's a lake( Tennison) bought and paid for by the tax payers money (soil conservation office) behind my house (1/4 mile). Its loaded with fish, (not sure how I know this) and its land locked, so if you own land around it, you can't get to it. I wish I had somebody would build me a lake beside my house.
