Thread: Lake Barnett Electrofishing

We sampled Lake Barnett last night. Water temperatures were already 70.2. THe water level was good with just the right amount of color to it. We saw some really good fish last night. Even though the electrofishing targets bass, we probably saw around 100 goog crappie or so. The lillies and water willow are starting to come up. Everytime we found a fairly steep bank that had 5 - 10 feet of water willow coming up, we found lots of good crappie, and because it was Lake Barnett, we found tubs full of great bass. We collected 12 bass over 5 pounds, 4 bass over 6 pounds, 2 bass over 7 pounds, and 1 ten pounder. This is the third year in a row that we have collected at least one 10 pounder. If the rains done make Barnett rise too much and get too muddy, the fishing should be great there for both bass and crappie for the next week or so.
