Size: 124.7 KBTrying to figure out the best way to set up my lines with baits to spider rig. Have used a couple of local ideas (Jonesboro), and looked at some in Grizzly catalog. Was wondering which set ups were popular and easiest to use.

I would shorten the top line to 3-6 inches (needs to be above your weight) other than that-perfect set up

OK thanks. What about line lbs. Should the leaders be heavy or light or does it matter. And what brands. Been using 6lb. Mr. Crappie yellow.

I use a 10 or 8 for the weighted part and 6 on the leaders so they will break first if hung up. A person may want to try all 10lb so possibly you could straighten the hooks if hung.

I try to use which ever line is on the sale rack. Crappie seem to like it better.

From your 3 way swivel go with a lighter line than on your rod. From the swivel at the egg sinker, go with a lighter line. You may want to use a snap swivel on your main/rod line. Make up a bunch of the leader lines.
I use 30# Power Pro on my reels, a snap swivel at the end. My leaders are 8 to 12# mono. A loop at both ends, one to hook onto the snap and the other for the sinker. I use bank or bass sinkers. Hooks/jigs are spaced 6" to 3 foot a part. Depending on how I want to fish them, tight or spaced. Mostly for finding the fish in a zone at first. The leaders may have 2 to 8 hooks, depending on lake or state rules.
I use a bobber stopper on my main line. If I'm using a leader that has 2 hooks with spaces of 12", 12 from the loop to the first hook, 12 to the second hook, 12 to the bottom loop. I'm 6 foot, If I draw the stopper arms length from the swivel, the bottom hook should be close to 8 foot deep.

I use Cajun red 10#. I tie a bell sinker on the bottom with a palomar knot. come up the line about a foot and tie a loop, come up about 2' and tie another loop. about 3" loops. through the knot twice so it wont slip. can rerig fast, even in the dark. doesnt cost as much either.

Baits are to close together. Shorter top drop, and a longer spread between the 3-way and the weight.
