Thread: Dear AGFC,

Jclark, several years ago there was a proposal to "enlarge" Mallard Lake. The proposal was to include all of Simmons Field and the 4 and 5 mile bar pits.
If my memory serves me correctly, the AGFC didn't have the funds to complete the project. The AGFC also stated that flooding those sections of woods would kill the timber.
I wish they would revisit that idea. I think with all the timber that has been cut from Big Lake over the years, there should be money to "fund" the project.(that's not even bringing the 1/8th of 1% sales tax into the equation)
I understand your "grief" with the northeast corner of the state. Good fishing is at minimum a hour and a half away.

I believe you are right ab big lake. My bad. The point I wanted to get across is that there is not much opportunity for the fisherman in this little corner of our great state.

they will tell you they aren't interested in the fishing in big lake. only interested in making a home for ducks in the winter.

Yeah the Big Lake ordeal was orchestrated by the state. According to the game warden, driving the airboat transporting the Jr Engineers to the north end, they were trying to keep the ducks from going south to the BP oil spill area. As all of this was happening they allowed the north end of the lake to backfill with silt. You can't get 100 yards from the boat ramp at Timms point without bottoming out. It kills me they just leave it that way.

Bass , Trout, and Ducks used to be where it went now we need to add nature centers.
