Tony - If you go today the wind is not that bad. If you have good electronics you will find big boo buckets out from Deckelman ramp towards the creek on east side. Dont be afraid to go in that creek and try fishing shallow. If you find some shallow try the state park cove also. Black and chartruce is on of my best colors out there. Good luck

Thanks! I really appreciate the info. I have good electronics (Humminbird 598ci HD SI) but I'm still learning how to use it! This will be my first trip to Poinsett and my second trip out in the new boat. Going to try it this evening then try it again Saturday.

If it helps ya any I caught a few decent ones off the dam a few weeks back during a bass tournament, they were 20' or so off the bank suspended around 5'. Good luck it was bad muddy when we were there.
