Your problem is more than likely a leak... Sounds like its sucking air..

A fuel tank is a fuel tank is a fuel tank...
If it holds fuel and your line doesn't allow air to be sucked in you should be good...

We move or transport fuel!!! A lot of fuel. If a tank truck has ever had Ethanol gas in it and he unloads and refills with non-ethanol gas the non-ethanol gas has ethanol in that tank!!! The truck drivers or railcars do not flush their tanks before reloading fuel. The point is we need to change plugs, filters every so often (6 months-year) (what you can afford) and run stabil and seafoam or some other gas treatment to help burn the fuel.Which now will have so much water being carried with the ethanol.!!! If not going to burn the gas you can use it in your lawnmower or treat it with a stabilzer of some type!!!
    Hope this helps!!!
