I'm having some surging issues with my outboard and i know i need to look at the fuel system since i still have an old metal gas tank lol and i don't know how old the fuel line is so i'm looking at replacing the whole shabang at once. Would you guys go to a marine dealer to get a new tank, line, fittings and pump or will some of the stuff from wally world suffice?

    Thanks!

Edit: it's just an older Evinrude 25hp tiller handle, no fancy gas/oil mixer whachamacallit.

I suppose you could get a tank from a dealer or Academy. Are you running Stabil? I surged at WOT and the stabil cured it. I also had my transducer too low and got the same sensation.

Just for a standard 6 gallon tank, line with in-line filter I recommend, and pump I'd say Wally World would work. I started running that sea foam in mine here while back and it seems to work pretty good. I'd say cheap as plugs are change them out at same time if they are 6+ months or older. I change mine out once a year and run sea foam through 3 or 4 times a year. As for the stabil I always run it whether I'm running ethanol gas or not. I'd say if your not going to leave your gas set in the tank too long Ethanol gas would be fine even though they say not to run it, just my opinion there though. As for the Ethanol I know an older guy who fishes about every other day and has run ethanol gas through his 75 merc for a long time without problems....think its more when it sets in a tank that it causes so many problems.

Stabil plus I would change the complete fuel line the 10% ethanol gas is bad on old lines

academy will prolly have everything you need at once versus wally world may have a few- may save you some time to get everything and be done

Good point here, Wally World is known for that.

I just got a new tank and fuel line from academy, they are the same price as other big stores and a little cheaper than the marine stores I checked.
