Talking Question for the more experienced!!

I know that males will move up before females when spawning kicks off. My questions is today I went fishing Lake just south of Augusta. I caught 13 lil better than average crappie. After cleaning I realized that they were all females (eggs) does this mean that maybe the males are shallower already? Or is it just coincedence that they were all females? Water temp was 56. Thanks

First let me say I'm no expert, my experience is that the females will stage and suspend when water temps are 55 to 60 deg. Often males will move in around 60 deg and prep the beds. Don't know how deep you were fishing but I would say that the females should remain in the general area until temps move in to the lower 60's. I would rather fish the pre spawn than the actual spawn, easier to target and vertical presentation seems to work well. Good luck.......

Actually I perfer the post spawn most of the time because weathrer is more stable. Check back on the first drop where you find them prespawn and alot of the time they return on post spawn.
