I read on another post where any broken connections must be soldered. Then use heat shrink wrap and cover shielding and water proof outside above water connection. I have one that may need repaired myself.

Anyone has any experience doing this? Only one wire is slighty broken, but the shielding and outside casing got a good slice. Its not underwater thanfully. I plan to splice the broken wire. Use that liquid PVC stuff on it, then wrap in a small piece of aluminum foil, and put the liquid rubber or whatever its called over that. Does anyone know if this will work?

x2 i price a new one for a lowrance x50ds that sell for about $100. the new transducer was$79.99 pu tax
Yea the new ducer for mine is $80, found it for $50 on another site, but I only paid 100 for the unit so buying a new ducer just doesnt seen logical right now. Unless the repair doesnt work.

Solder the broken wire if you can. Then do the things you said and it should be fine. If you cut one completely through you would want to offset your wires by cutting different lengths. Put a piece of heat shrink over cable and slide it back. Make your connections, coat with liquid tape then pull down heat shrink and seal.

You can splice it together and it will work fine, I fish Conway and I tear up some transducer cables, usually 2 or 3 a year, splice it and make it as water proof as you can and it will work fine. Don't buy a new one till you have to, unless you have deep pockets. It's your call but I would splice it together as many times as you can.
